Aniaras Flatcoats History We had both for many years been active in the field of sports first as athlets later on the administrative level. At this stage we dicided to have a dog. Our first dog was an English Cocker Spaniel. In 1981 we bought our first flatcoat - KI-RO-MA`s Kojack - among friends known as Monty - from Kirsten and Petter Schjørn. Cato started obedience training as well as working trials/search and rescue. This was interesting. KI-RO-MA`s Kojack never became a winner at shows, but he achieved several prizes of honour and res CC`s. In obedience he participated a little in Class III (the elite class at that time) and he achieved his "gold and enamel" medal for passing the whole program. As a youngster he also got 2nd prize in field trial and a 2nd prize in tracking (wounded game). Monty became 12,5 years old. Brit-Elin was very often with us on training sessions and at shows and she thought all this looked so facinating and interesting that she dicided to have her own dog. The thought of breeding flatcoats and finding a bitch that could be a suitable match for Monty, made us choose Baghera who was bought from Ingjerd Holme in 1983. Baghera was a pretty bitch and she won a ticket and several reserves at Show. She also participated in class III in obedience and class A in search and rescue. She was a team reserve at The National working trials Championship in Trondheim in 1992. Baghera reached the age of 12,5 years. In The National working trials Championship in Trondheim in 1992, Cato also participated with Aniaras Ben Zorro, the son of Monty and Baghera. Zorro also participated in obedience class III and in search and rescue class A. Cato and Zorro had meny good years together and Zorro was his kind of dog. They had a special campanionship. Zorro also achieved several prizes of honour and res CC`s at shows, but he was never used for breeding. In hindsight we regret this. Zorro reached the age of 11 years and the loss was very difficult.
We kept the bitch Aniaras Aniara from Baghera and Montys first litter. She gave us several good puppies, among others Cilla Black, the mother of Gabrielle and Holly. Gabrielle has two brothers that are both champions. NUCH Aniaras Gilbert and NUCH Aniaras Garfield. Holly is the mother of Queen and Quinns Maid and Tequila Sauza in a later litter. These bitches look very promising - both for show and work. Baghera also had a litter to Lussac Crusader, from which we kept the bitch Fleur. Fleur was mated to a dog from our own breeding: Aniaras Chess. This gave us a very good producer, Aniaras Ivana, who is the mother of our champion NUCH Aniaras Odin In Ivanas second litter there are also several promising dogs. Aniaras Flatcoats has soon passed two decades. At home we keep three dogs. NUCH Aniaras Odin and NUCH Nord UV-02 Aniaras Vasco Da Gama, who Brit-Elin works in search and rescue as well as field trials and obedience. Ravenhall Fire Storm (Kevin) we had from Sue Kearton. Cato trains Kevin in the same areas. These tthree dogs are very different, but we are very pleased with them all - they have very good qualities both in the ring and in the field. It is also very rewarding for us to have sold dogs to become drug sniffer dogs, avalanche dogs, working trial competitors, trackers etc. We have been told thath these dogs have been easy to work with. An owner of a drug sniffer dog from us once said that: "The training was as easy as to cut in butter" ( a norwegian proverb). |
